Katie Garrett
For over twenty years, Katie has shared her passion for education with families and has cultivated her passion for helping students learn. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with degrees in both Cognitive Studies and Psychology, and her studies provided her with a unique foundation for understanding the science of the mind and the process by which students learn to think, problem solve, and reason. While doing extensive research on the curriculums of various schools, Katie has built relationships with admission and learning resource departments, and has the knowledge and experience to usher families through the admission’s process for college, boarding school and day school. She is dedicated to helping each student find the school or college environment where they can find their own personal success.
Katie has completed her graduate certificate in Independent Educational Consulting through The University of California-Irvine. She is a Professional Member with Independent Educational Consultant Association, the industry leader in educational consulting, and also Chairs the Charlotte regional chapter. Katie has personally visited more than 150 college and boarding school campuses and meets with admissions personnel on a regular basis to insure that she stays abreast of the ever changing landscape of education and admissions.
In addition, Katie has completed coursework in executive functioning through Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and is a Certified Parent Coach through the International Coaching Federation. Katie holds memberships in the Independent Educational Consultant Association (IECA), Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), Southern Association of College Admissions Counselors(SACAC), The Association of Boarding Schools(TABS), Small Boarding School Association(SBSA), International Coaching Federation(ICF), and The Enrollment Management Association.
